Nick has written short, easily digestible prayers most of us who’ve had or have cancer have wanted to say. He precedes each prayer with an applicable Scripture verse and a short note of encouragement.The book is pocket or purse sized with a leatherette cover that makes transporting the book easy. A person can take the book wherever they go—even to chemo or other treatments—to ensure they have encouragement and thoughtful words with them.Although written from a Christian perspective, these prayers will help anyone who’s called out from the depths of their emotions during their cancer walks. Nick, a cancer survivor himself, understands where we go in our minds and hearts during this journey. I was hesitant to read this. I know it sounds silly to be hesitant to read a prayer book, but after battling cancer for two years, I wasn't sure I wanted to "go back there" again. All I can say now is that I wish I'd had this book while I was suffering. This book is more than just prayers, it's a book of encouraging verses and uplifting words from the author followed by a prayer. While battling cancer, I found it difficult to focus my mind and energy on anything but survival. That's what makes this book so helpful. Each prayer, verse, and encouraging word fits all onto a single page. It's nice and short, but that doesn't make it less powerful. There are so many helpful "tips" I could have used during my battle, so many soothing thoughts, so many comforting verses I could have used had I been given this book. I strongly suggest if you know someone who is battling cancer, that you give this book to them. And if they are too sick to read (again, it's very simple and short on each page, not overwhelming at all), take time to read it to them. It will bring them comfort. It addresses so many of the issues we cancer patients have to face, issues we worry about, issues that can cause us more stress when we need to focus on getting better. This book shows us how to let go of those stresses and shows us how to focus on Him and trust in His will no matter what happens. This would make an excellent book for your friend or family member who is in this battle right now.I was given this book by the publisher for an honest unbiased review.

I like everything about this book. It is small enough to slip in a purse or pocket, and the cover is soft and beautiful. The one-page prayers include an appropriately-chosen Scripture, a short inspiring explanation, and then the heartfelt prayer. Even the titles are spot on. The prayers are encouraging, filled with hope, and realistic yet gentle. The prayers don’t need to be read sequentially, and the titles will guide to the right topic. Nick Harrison covers all the many aspects of the cancer journey in these prayers, but brings all the emotions – and all the tumbled thoughts – to the foot of the Cross.I received this book from the publisher with the request that I would review it, but I am buying several copies to give to friends currently facing cancer.

Many years ago a Christian friend, and a mighty prayer warrior, suffered from cancer and was too weak to pray. She and millions of others needed a book of written prayers. Now there is one.Nick Harrison, a cancer survivor and a Christian, knows whereof he speaks. His prayers for patience, hope, healing, joy, thanksgiving, faith, etc. will minister to readers where they are at.One-Minute Prayers for Those with Cancer is a lovely imitation leather book of prayers with a ribbon to mark your place. It will be a source of inspiration during a difficult time. I highly recommend this book.
