A person can take the book wherever they go—even to chemo or other treatments—to ensure they have encouragement and thoughtful words with them.Although written from a Christian perspective, these prayers will help anyone who’s called out from the depths of their emotions during their cancer walks. Nick, a cancer survivor himself, understands where we go in our minds and hearts during this journey. I was hesitant to read this. I know it sounds silly to be hesitant to read a prayer book, but after battling cancer for two years, I wasn't sure I wanted to "go back there" again. All I can say now is that I wish I'd had this book while I was suffering. This book is more than just prayers, it's a book of encouraging verses and uplifting words from the author followed by a prayer. While battling cancer, I found it difficult to focus my mind and energy on anything but survival. That's what makes this book so helpful. Each prayer, verse, and encouraging word fits all onto a single page. It's nice and short, but that doesn't make it less powerful. There are so many helpful "tips" I could have used during my battle, so many soothing thoughts, so many comforting verses I could have used had I been given this book. I strongly suggest if you know someone who is battling cancer, that you give this book to them. And if they are too sick to read (again, it's very simple and short on each page, not overwhelming at all), take time to read it to them. It will bring them comfort. It addresses so many of the issues we cancer patients have to face, issues we worry about, issues that can cause us more stress when we need to focus on getting better. This book shows us how to let go of those stresses and shows us how to focus on Him and trust in His will no matter what happens. This would make an excellent book for your friend or family member who is in this battle right now.I was given this book by the publisher for an honest unbiased review.

I like everything about this book. It is small enough to slip in a purse or pocket, and the cover is soft and beautiful. The one-page prayers include an appropriately-chosen Scripture, a short inspiring explanation, and then the heartfelt prayer. Even the titles are spot on. The prayers are encouraging, filled with hope, and realistic yet gentle. The prayers don’t need to be read sequentially, and the titles will guide to the right topic. Nick Harrison covers all the many aspects of the cancer journey in these prayers, but brings all the emotions – and all the tumbled thoughts – to the foot of the Cross.I received this book from the publisher with the request that I would review it, but I am buying several copies to give to friends currently facing cancer.

Even bigger than the learnings in how faulty and filled with cracks our system is, are Chris Wilson's prescription which he calls the Master Plan, that I believe will be a scalable plan for those other Chris' out there who might be in his shoes but not have been given a pathway to a life they had been told they couldn't have. This book isn't just an inspiring story, it has the ability to entirely change the way humans who read it journey through life.

I am very impressed with the story and the journey. The book is very well written and keeps you engaged. This is the type of story that gives you hope and shows that you can accomplish anything you put your mind to and overcome obstacles. Excellent book!

This book is incredibly uplifting. It is an authentic account of a child sentenced to life in prison, and how that child grew into a man who found life’s purpose through education, and the help of others. The power of books and education have never been more true. This is a story of one mans journey, but really it’s the life experience of so many people in our nations prisons. This will make you think about prison reform, and specifically about reforming the way we overpunish “violent” youthful offenders.

So much more than a spectacular story of redemption. So much more than a treatise on a broken justice system. "The Master Plan" is an important book for every American to read. Will be recommending to my book club and every reader I know. Heck, I'll recommend it to strangers, too. This book should win the Pulitzer Prize for Nonfiction.

Once I started this book, I was hooked. Mr. Wilson's story is yet another reminder of the trials and obstacles associated with growing up in poverty, as well as the unequal treatment that is so entrenched in systems that are allegedly meant for rehabilitation. But the best part of this book was the message that hope springs eternal.

So much insight into how broken our justice system is and how returning citizens are dehumanized and victimized while serving their time and even after they have served their time. America truly needs to invest in honest quality rehabilitative efforts and returning our citizens to communities of support with expectations of betterment for having spent time in prison focused on reform and self improvement.Mr. Wilson has shown us where and how to begin...
