Mark Kistler's books were enjoyed by my daughter and her children. We love to draw. Mark makes it fun and easy. Although I like the work of his mentor, which his first books mirrored with exactness, these later books build on instead of copy Bruce McIntyre's style. Age eight or nine on up will enjoy this book if they like to draw.

While this book has much value,fun, and good content, be aware that it is a booklet of 32 pages compared to Draw Squad and Kistlers Imagination Station: Learn How to Draw in 3D. They have about 250 pages. You will get more for your money in terms of more lessons/info with the other 2 books.

Easy to follow drawing instructions.

My grand-daughter is only 4 years old yet from the time she's been 2 she has loved to draw. She has tried to copy just what she sees and gets frustrated when she can't. So thought I should nurish her intrest in it. And I started learning with her for fun. First I brought books for me thinking I could teach her once I learned to better draw. Ha! I can't tell you how much money I wasted and felt like a failure.Trying to learn more realism in what I was drawing. They go from this to a finished product in 10 seconds and your scratching your head going what did I miss? So, I bought several of these books for her thinking at least they had cute critters in them she'd at least have fun with them. She follows with no instruction from me at all, just from looking at the pictures of what he's doing and can't read a word of it. Her pictures don't look exactly like his but she now draws a better circle than I do and she's have a great time with it. Has not once gotten frustrated because she can't draw just what she sees, as far as she's concerned she has, she drew the first circle that's an accomplishment to her. And from his strange creatures, doesn't matter to her if she's drawing a person with 20 arms and 4 legs she's drawn something and it's beautiful to her which is what's important. So weather your 4 or 43 it's well worth every penny. :-)Christopher Hart another great teacher check out his books as well. He'll teach you to draw 20 different sets of eyes, and several poses so you don't have to draw just what he's teaching you, you can mix it all up and still come out with a great drawing. Very easy to understand and follow.

I have a daughter in 5th grade and she is a huge fan of this book series. The step-by-step apprach has her creating masterpieces every time! The drawings are a lot of fun, so she doesn't get bored with drawing mundane objects over an over. The drawing style is also cool and doesn't feel outdated like so many drawing books for kids do. I recommend these books very highly.

It is way too long and a good editor would have cut it in half. I skimmed many, many pages.

If you are a railway enthusiast then this is the book for you - full of all the interesting details that make railways so fascinating to begin with, without ever losing significant there impact on society and history .

Excellent and absorbing social history, well worth the many pages !

At my age (84+); and growing-up as the only son of a Railway father in the U K before, during and after WW II, I can fully resonate with all that the Author says & writes on the railways scene 'back home'.The depth of research evidenced by his account -- even to including mention of places in East Anglia over which my Father held "Civil" sway all his life, brought back memories of the 'Glory days' when travel across the surface of the land while someone else up-front was responsible for the safe transit through beloved Britain, was as enjoyable a part of the overall objective of the trip, as were the events that unfolded after arrival -- whether business or pleasure.

I know just the man for this book. It had a great review and I think he is going to really enjoy this!

Although I generally believe that the one story a writer shouldn't write is their own, Agatha Christie's autobiography is the happy exception to this rule.The famous mystery writer takes much of the mystery out of how she became a writer telling a straightforward story of a fairy-tale childhood that abruptly changed into a grown-up existence of uncertainty, hard-work, determination, pluck and verve. She admits to less ambition than necessity dictated by money and marriage woes.Christie is a natural storyteller but she is far too polite to admit it outright. Instead, she brings the same hands-off style to her own story as she does to the main characters in her mystery books: that of being caught up in the circumstances of events rather than being driven by them.Her life story gently unfolds complemented by a dry and self-effacing wit. Christie blends in tidbits of her writing life, including her early efforts, story and character inspirations, why her books are so short, her writing style and routine and her dealings with editors and publishing houses, into the mostly personal narrative.While it may be a mystery as to whether Christie created or responded to opportunities, there's no mystery that once those opportunities presented themselves Christie seized them and rode them spectacularly to fame and fortune.

Of all the memoir/autobiography's I've read in the last YEAR - this one is the TOP FAVORITE. Ok, that might be because I'm a writer as well - and love to read about how other writer's go about the craft. But, writing aside - the woman has sold more books that any other novelist - OF ALL TIME. Her books are the most widely published behind Shakespeare and the Bible. I mean for that reason alone - you'd want to find out more about her. And for those of you who love Romance...after her first husband left her for another woman- she found love later in life with a much younger man and was married to him for the rest of her life! Happy Marriage late in life, the most popular novelist ever - and a wonderful writer of things such as what was happening in London after the war. This is a history book - a romance, and a 'how to be a writer' book. I absolutely LOVED it.

First, let me say that Agatha Christie's autobiography is one of my all-time favorite books. That's why I purchased the Kindle version when I already own a hard copy.Imagine my disappointment, then, as I read along, the narrative suddenly makes no sense. I'm not talking about the occasional misprint, those are to be expected. No, whole paragraphs and sections are simply gone. Is this an abridged version? Sometimes the text is neatly excised, and unless you knew what should have been there, you'd never miss it. Other times it is jarring. For example, Mrs. Christie is reflecting on the pleasures of the suqs in Bagdhad, and the next page drops into the middle of a conversation about metaphysics with some unnamed person. (Whom frantic searches of my hard copy revealed to be Maurice Vickers.) Now, I don't know about most, but I need context before I can face a discussion of metaphysics on my good days - and to find myself suddenly confronted with the meaty middle of a treatise on the philosophical implications of Time and Infinity, without a fair warning or time to prepare myself, was a terrible shock to the system. Referencing the hard copy, and filling in the missing paragraphs, made the discussion not only palatable, but deeply interesting and even profound.I don't how many other such errors there are. I do know that as I read a book with which I am fairly familiar, I often felt that some things were missing, and a superficial comparison of the Kindle and hard copies confirmed that.Agatha Christie's autobiography is an engrossing journey into the mind of an original and entertaining woman. Its little forays into Victoriana, such as the proper books for children to read, or suitable names for cooks, house maids and parlourmaids, (and why they weren't the same), are charming and fascinating. Her reminiscences of her times on archaeological digs in the middle east are compelling. It's more than worth reading - just not in the Kindle version.

A wonderful account in her own words, Agatha Christie's autobiography will keep the reader interested in knowing a little bit more about her life as wife, mother, and author. The story of her life is told seemingly effortlessly by Agatha. Agatha Christie's earliest memories of home, childhood,and the importance of family and place will keep the reader from wanting to put this book down. I enjoyed the way you can hear her tell her own story without pretense or artifice. Agatha Christie has a way of telling a story so well that you just want to keep reading and reading. Her own life's story is no different. This is one of the finest autobiographies I have ever read. It is truly a classic, like the author herself.

A wonderful book, full of memories of a world that is no more. Extremely enjoyable. What the author doesn't cover in her autobiography is the mysterious episode of her disappearance for eleven days (if you're interested in knowing more about that, you might want to check out "Agatha Christie and the Eleven Missing Days" by Jared Cade). Otherwise, Victorian England comes to life in the words of Dame Agatha Christie.

El Padre Claudio M. Burgaleta, SJ nació en Cuba en 1960 y creció en New Jersey. En 1980 ingresó en la Provincia de Nueva York de la Compañía de Jesús (jesuitas) y fue ordenado sacerdote en 1992. En 1996, el Padre Burgaleta se graduó de Boston College con un doctorado en Teología histórica y sistemática.Ha dado clase en escuela secundaria, ha hecho trabajo de formación para los jesuitas, ha sido director de un instituto de pastoral y espiritualidad para latinos y también ha dado conferencias y ofrecido retiros para comunidades hispanas en Estados Unidos y en el extranjero. Good overview of animals and plants. It also has sections on larger Galapagos geology and natural history. The best feature of this particular guide is that it lists specific attractions for the most popular visitation sites. If you're planning a land stay and want to organize day boats, the site guide is invaluable. We took a multi-day, guided boat tour, so the schedule was mostly planned out, but the site guides let me review the specific animals we were likely to see, habits and markings. Overall, a good book to have as a trip-planning aid at least a month or two prior to departure. This is a good single-shot book in a pocketable size, but as such can't go into huge depth. The book by Swash does a bit better with bird markings, particularly showing side-by-side comparisons of similar species. If you're doing a dive trip or really like fish, a dedicated fish guide would also be advisable.

Perfect for pre & post trip. Fun to anticipate adventure, great for identifying afterwards.Bit heavy/thick when aiming for minimal packing weight, so took 'Birds, Mammals, Reptiles of Galapagos' on trip instead.Life is good!!

A great resource to have on hand when voyaging in the Galapagos. Not a perfect field guide but the best for the area that exists currently. There are better books for in depth knowledge but this is the one I turned to after our daily excursions in the islands.

i found this interesting and helpful. i was in the galapagos and used this pocket guide. very easy to carry and look up what i saw.....various other people on the tour would ask to see this on the bus we were on....just a nice, handy helpful guide.....clearly it does not have every creature; but it hit the highlights

Comprehensive take-along book, the only one I need to take. Good advice for photographers, list of flora and fauna for each island, (which I am studying before trip.)Bulk of book is color photos of the plants, animals, birds, fish. I cannot learn all of this ahead of time, but expect to reference it as we have our lectures and pre-embarcation talks.My only negative is that the binding is so tight that you need 2 hands to keep it open to read. I would prefer a spiral binding.

We just returned from a tour of the Galapagos Islands. On the boat, we had a copy of this book and it was great to identify wildlife that we had seen. When we got home, we decided we needed another copy of this book.

definitely interesting and very accurate and detailed. It was the perfect book to have along on our recent Galapagos trip and an excellent reference guide for=us.

I think that this is a must have book for nature lovers who visit the Galápagos Islands. The two other popular fold-out " easy-to-carry publications, aren't suitable for the serious observer. It was a little lacking on picturing some of the common blooming plants, bushes & trees. Otherwise I would give it 5stars for birders. Also it is not available in stores on the Islands. Buy before you leave the U S.

Alice is a young lady whose boyfriend, Lewis, doesn't quite satisfy her. When her battery-operated white rabbit hops away, Alice discovers why it's called Wonderland..This book is as much a satire as it is erotica, with a great many pop culture references, a poetry slam featuring Shakespeare, Tennyson, Robert Burns, and other great poets throughout history, and fourth-wall breakage throughout. The characters themselves refer to the readers, the chapters and even the number of pages in the e-reader version..DuChamp has created a titillating series, albeit one that will have you laughing throughout. DuChamp's thoughts on poetry are well-documented in this book ("she would rather hear a meth-addled performance artist scream incoherently about Martians while throwing rotten eggs at the audience than read poetry"). Amidst the raunch and the humor, however, there is a moral. The second book concerns Alice learning tolerance of others, regardless of appearance or preferences. If you didn't discover the moral on your own, the characters remind the reader quite often. This is a fun little romp for adults who don't want to grow up, and keep their fairy tales with them..My Rating: 4.5/5 stars

Much better than I expected it to be! I was expecting the erotica, but the humorous dialog and the aside comments from the author made me chuckle. Well worth it if you are wanting something hot to read while enjoying a funny storyline/fantasy.

I picked up this book after hearing it mentioned on a podcast. I thought it was a clever concept and was interested to see how the author added a "50 Shades" twist to the familiar Alice in Wonderland story.FIFTY SHADES OF ALICE IN WONDERLAND: This particular book was my favorite of the three. I thought the author did a good job of adhering to the general structure of Alice and Wonderland and creating memorable twists on those familiar scenes. I wasn't a huge fan of the actual writing with its repetitive phrasing and hit-or-miss attempts at humor, but the story was compelling and it was an entertaining read.FIFTY SHADES OF ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS: The middle installment of the trilogy felt like a step down from the first volume. It was still an entertaining read, but felt like it was trying a little too hard to top the scenes and extremes of the first book, which didn't always make a lot of narrative sense (even in a fantasy world).FIFTY SHADES OF ALICE AT THE HELLFIRE CLUB: This was my least favorite volume in the trilogy. It felt a little rushed and over the top (even for fantasy erotica), and more of a collection of scenes than a consistent narrative. The story ended on a positive note, but it was difficult to stay invested in this part of the story.Overall, this was a fun, quick read but ultimately didn't really impress. The erotic elements were decent but the rest of the writing connecting the erotic scenes was a little lacking. It was a fun, quick read, but in retrospect, I probably would have rather stopped after paying $2.99 for the first one rather than paying an additional $4 for the two less-successful sequels.

I enjoyed every minute of this book. Alice's adventures are exactly what was promised. How I wish I could go through the looking glass or down that rabbit hole with her. It's a lite fun read but one you won't forget. Yes, this is an adult book and some won't understand but for those with an open mind, (hahaha a joke from the looking glass section) you will see more than you ever thought you knew. A Fun Read.

Cute concept. Well written. Totally engrossing. One of those books you can't put down and if you do ,you have to rush back to see what will come next.

I bought this book for my wife. She said it had a lot of good parts and was very imaginative. The ending was what prompted her to say 2 star. I wont spoil anything, but some things dont need to be explained.

I was intrigued and excited to read another take on Wonderland...until I realized that this book wouldn't deliver. Part 1 is honestly as far as this story should have gone, since the writing and story development declined from there. The shameless commercial plugs, the snarky disdain for literary classics, and the overwhelmingly cheesy literary puns were just too much. I could barely bring myself to finish the book.

If you like cheesy sex stories that parody classics, but also need an intro to kink, this one's for you!
