This guide follows right along with Stanley"s talk on video lessons. There are suggested scripture readings to help prepare for the lessons, things to think about as you go along and discussion questions for afterwards. The text follows right along with his talk , so you can have much of his dialogue in front of you as he presents the lesson. Over all this is a great study I would recommend to all who would seek to follow Jesus and understand how to express His love to others who might not necessarily think as you do. Like the title says : Christian, It's Not what you think .
This book/study is powerful. Not to be approached lightly. If you're just doing the bare minimum, sliding by as a Christian, this will make you uncomfortable. The study pushes where all of us need pushing I suspect - to become better disciples of Christ, and to not just be Christians in the general sense. We used this as a small group study in my church with adults and in another group with High School students and both groups were 100% in their responses that it is well worth your time and that it was quite challenging. I love Andy Stanley's ability to clearly get to the single big idea and then present it in ways that are memorable and meaningful. He's a master communicator, and really shines in this series.
There's nothing new here, but a lot we need to be reminded of as we "do church" in American culture in the 21st century. Andy Stanley takes us back to the early church, not to create a to-do list, but to see how and why the early Christians were so successful that they changed the world. This is a great study for small groups, but I would recommend that you watch the whole messages instead of the small-group curriculum. You'll be better able to put things into their proper context.
This is a guide for ALL persons of GOD. If you need a new lease on how to relate to Christians or disciples this small book is the answer. I would recommend it to any one who wants to seriously study all sides of this concepts. Will be worth you time to reflect on new ways to deal with sometimes unanswered thoughts or possibly new thoughts on a wide spread of great thoughts and teaching.
Andy Stanley is a wonderful preacher. I found this study both informative and practical. It outlines society's feelings toward the term Christian. He explains biblically how people who identify as Christ followers are commanded to act in a gracious way. He confronts his audience with truth in a kind way not a hell and brimstone grim manner.I have used this study for a women's group and everyone had a positive response to the DVD sessions. Would be great for both men and women of all ages.Stanley explains that Christ has commanded us to love everyone. By our example of love, others will know we are Christ followers and will be drawn to him. Explains why so many in today's society seem to hate or dislike Christians. Kind of a where we went wrong and why we have little influence in the world around us.
First encounter with Andy Stanley and my wife and I love it so far. We are watching the DVD along with the study. The DVD is better than the book. The book asks simple, redundant questions but does have some helpful content that isn't in the accompanying DVD. The DVD is awesome and I'd encourage people to only buy the two together.
Good study! I had some ladies in my study who really learned from and appreciated this! We came from different denominations but were able to meet on common ground with this. The content is straightforward and clearly presented, and the discussion questions are well-crafted. Would use again in a different group!
Excellent series for our church men's group. Deep teaching, but extremely practical at the same time. The DVD comes with the 15 minute small group version, or the 35-40 minute entire message by Andy Stanley. Our group decided to use the longer versions and it has worked great. Very well done, professional video and materials.

I've traveled through Europe several times and always had one of these books with me. They have a ton of useful information on major cities while not overdoing it on random information. It's extremely convenient having one book that covers all of Europe. Even though this book was published the same year we traveled, some of the places they recommended were permanently closed already, so it's definitely important to get the most recent copy. I wish they had one of these for Asia too!
This book was informative, but wasn't exactly what I was hoping for. It felt a bit dated for me. I am going to backpack Europe for a few months and this book wasn't for a 20 something person looking to backpack for a few months. It has information about hotels, restaurants, and every country in Europe. I was looking for just a bit different. Still had tons of knowledge and information!
This was the sole book I took on a backpacking trip from Istanbul to Dublin, through nearly every country in Europe. Most of the info was up-to-date, relevant, and useful, ESPECIALLY the little city maps and hostel guides. Was tailored perfectly for the budgeted traveler. This book helped tremendously, and was very worn by the end of the trip as much as I used it. I would study this book and get ready for my next city during the train or bus ride over. Many a times I referred to this book as soon as I stepped off a train station to get my bearings and figure out where to go.
I was skeptical at first when I purchased this book. I usually use lonely planet for my guides, but do to the economy, I chose to use t "budget" book. My last trip to tour Europe for a month in 2006 I used Frommers. This book is without a doubt is geared and written by the younger class traveler. I'm 26 my wife 24. It gives descriptions for every museum from the exotic (examply: Marijuana and Hash Museum is Amsterdam) to the most serious of museums. I was able to plan 33 days in Europe without airface for $2300. That includes hotels (not hostels or budget dorms, actually nice hotels), entrance fee's to museums, EuroRail passes and budgeting in money for meals. and if you book 9 months in advance, we got airfare for $650 a person round trip. Great book. Recommend to anyone who's into seeing everything Europe has to offer on a backpackers budget.
I purchase this book for my son is going backpacking in Europe. I was totally blown away by how comprehensive yet simple to understand everything the way it was laid out. I almost didn't want to give it to my son. I will definitely get one when I go to Europe next year. I was very impressed with the box
Rough Guides are the best for people who travel on a lower budget or people who want something other than the typical tourist destinations.
VERY HELPFUL
